‘Badlands” was a lot of fun to create! I started with a photograph of a nice, light honey colored telecaster that’s similar enough to the Esquire that you’ll catch Springsteen playing often and then turned the vibe into a dark, powerful bad-ass-badlands vibe. This piece exudes power, energy and will rock and space it lives in!

I am Michelle Brochu Baker and with these collections of Cars and Guitars, I tap into my own nostalgia, taking inspiration from the things that have moved me since my earliest memories – things that STILL make my heart sing: Classic cars and classic rock. This is the world I come from, as an artist, and this is where the images I bring to you spawn from.

My work begins with photos that I shoot. I then clean up and enhance the images with manually drawn splashes, splatters and textured scrapes of color using digital brushes, applying unique and intentional effects to each part of the image. I hope you enjoy the results as much as I enjoy the creative process!
