Purple Rain B.C. Rich Guitar Art (24x36" poster, unframed)
Guitars like this say a lot without even being played. They say things like “You were born to stand out.” They might say things like “ I STILL wanna rock.” One thing they do NOT say is “I’m sorry.” This unapologetically bad-ass purple B.C. Rich “Bich” art piece was titled “Purple Rain” because — well, of course, the color — but also… have you ever noticed that the song “Purple Rain” by Prince talks about possibly feeling some remorse, maybe regret, maybe a little bitterness, but through the whole song the lyrics just tell a tale of intentions being different than things ended up… but two words that you do not hear in that beautiful break-up ballad is “I’m sorry.”
I am Michelle Brochu Baker and with these collections of Cars and Guitars, I tap into my own nostalgia, taking inspiration from the things that have moved me since my earliest memories – things that STILL make my heart sing: Classic cars and classic rock. This is the world I come from, as an artist, and this is where the images I bring to you spawn from. My work begins with photos that I shoot. I then clean up and enhance the images with manually drawn splashes, splatters and textured scrapes of color using digital brushes, applying unique and intentional effects to each part of the image. I hope you enjoy the results as much as I enjoy the creative process!
