Hi, I’m Michelle Brochu Baker—a mixed-media artist, designer, and instructor with a passion for creativity in all its forms. In my work, I blend traditional media like pencil, charcoal, chalk, and ink with digital tools like Photoshop and Procreate to bring ideas to life. Welcome to my studio, Rockin’ Chalk!
I’ve been fortunate to live a creative life since 1989, working as a muralist, illustrator, sign painter, and graphic designer for print, TV, and multimedia. Then, in 2017, I discovered something truly special: a love for teaching art and inspiring creativity in others.
Since then, I’ve had the joy of working with hundreds of students of all ages, both in person and online. My classes are designed to bring the studio experience right into your home through small-group, real-time video lessons. I also host workshops and classes in New England, where we can create together in a hands-on setting.
Sharing my knowledge of art and design is the most meaningful part of my journey. Teaching not only lets me help others explore their creativity but also deepens my own understanding of the craft—which is an incredible gift. My goal is to equip you with tools, tips, and fundamentals while sparking your imagination and confidence.

The three big categories that I teach are (1) drawing fundamentals using pencil & charcoal, (2) how to doodle, draw and color using alcohol based markers, and (3) how to make digital art using the Procreate app for iPad.

I primarily teach Online (privately and on a platform called Outschool) . I also have a YouTube Channel. I will be offering some in-person workshops and classes in the Southern NH area this year (2025). Please scroll down and subscribe to my newsletter for updates.

I work with learners age 9 and up (including adults, retirees, etc).
My online classes for children under 16 are hosted on the Outschool platform.
Other online classes are hosted using Google Meet and are available for learners over the age of 16. -
I have taught at the college level as an adjunct instructor teaching Introductory Digital Art, and I have worked in a classroom setting with k-8 at a private academy in New Hampshire teaching art fundamentals.
I have been an Outschool instructor since March of 2020, and have worked with approximately 500 learners online through that platform.I operate my own private classes and workshops online and locally, too.
